Dear Parkside resident,
The Australian Education Union has again applied to redevelop its site on Greenhill Road between Porter and Montpelier Streets, Parkside. It includes two towers of 10 and 8 levels, 202 apartments, and offices.
This follows their previous application in April 2023 which was rejected by the State Commission Assessment Panel (SCAP) in September 2023 on 10 grounds, mostly relating to excessive height, massing, overlooking, overshadowing, traffic, parking and being out of character with the neighbourhood.
The latest plans are only a minor alteration and do not significantly address the concerns raised by public objections and SCAP ruling of 2023. They also involve removal of all but one of the many mature trees on-site, and one street tree. Importantly, the project continues to propose the demolition of an existing residence in the Established Neighbourhood Zone on Porter Street and thereby brings the imposing building mass 15 m further south, closer to Parkside homes.
Please get involved by having your say on the PlanSA site by searching Application 24031958 at www.plan.sa.gov.au/en/public_notices
We have until 11:59pm on 18th February 2025 to submit a response.
- Your submission does not need to be long or professionally written.
- Simply state your key concerns (e.g., height, overshadowing, traffic).
- The more objections, the stronger our case—every submission counts!
- Each household member can submit one, regardless of age.
- Tick the box to speak at the hearing—you can change your mind later, but if you don’t opt in now, you lose the option.
- Speaking time can be pooled to allow community representatives more time to present.
For more information on the development or representation process and to submit your response, visit www.plan.sa.gov.au/en/public_notices. Email us at neighbor.of.parkside@gmail.com). (7 February 2025)
I do not want this development as Porter Street is too narrow as only o ne car can drive down it as cars park on both sides; too much extra traffic for neighborhood.
